The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) operates under a cooperation agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), the federal public health authority responsible for determining the effects of toxic exposures on human health, preventing further exposures, and reducing risks to human health at hazardous waste landfills. h est. The Bureau of Environmental Health has a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Of Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) called APPLETREE (ATSDR`s Partnership to Promote Localized Efforts to Reduce Environmental Exposure). ATSDR funds 25 cooperation agreements to help States strengthen their capacity to assess and respond to localization issues related to human exposure to hazardous substances in the environment. This new three-year ATSDR cooperation program to promote local pollution reduction efforts (APPLETREE) will fund approximately 25 public and local health authorities and/or state-recognized governments of the American Indian/Alaska Native Tribals for a performance period from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Through this cooperation agreement, assisted applicants will receive resources and instructions to assess and respond to location issues related to exposure to hazardous substances in the environment.
